Sompo Japan Research Institute Inc. is the think tank of the Sompo Japan Group. The Institute was established in 1987 as an undertaking commemorating the 100-year foundation anniversary of Yasuda Fire & Marine Insurance Company (currently: Sompo Japan Insurance Inc.). To date, we have been working on fundamental research and studies in areas that are deeply connected to the insurance industry, such as product liability, consumer protection laws, environmental countermeasures, and trends of Europe and North America insurance companies. Our result is open to public in this website.

Currently, our field of research and study is being expanded primarily around the two areas of Insurance & Finance and Social Security & Healthcare. In particular, major themes for Insurance & Finance include Europe, North America and Asian insurance industry and sales channel trends and analyses of individual companies, while those for Social Security & Healthcare include Europe and North America health insurance markets, disease management, projects to support disease prevention domestically and overseas, and more.
